Scientology in the Middle

It seems like only yesterday that Tom Cruise was jumping up and down like a gleeful child on Oprah Winfrey’s couch declaring his love for the Dawson’s Creek star, Katie Holmes. Now their six year marriage is ending in divorce.
Amongst the popular reasons for celebrity divorces, this one is a little out of the ordinary, as it seems that the catalyst for the divorce was Cruise’s high profile relationship with the Church of Scientology.

The Church of Scientology is continuously at the centre of media speculation and this week, it hits the news once again as claims arise that Holmes is trying to ensure that daughter, Suri, 6, stays away from the much disparaged religion.

Boasting millions of members, zealous adherents pay masses of money -signing a billion year contract- to learn about the religion which claims that humans are, in fact, extra terrestrials.

Learn more about the Church of Scientology and its founders, L Ron Hubbards views and beliefs by visiting the Blackpool Library Service and picking up one of our Scientology books.

  1. I’ve often wondered about the Church of Scientology and the beliefs they have so I may take a look at one of your books on the subject. I don’t think a biography by Tom Cruise is my thing though! Thank you for the article and take care.
