Reading Well Scheme

Public libraries are now playing a pivotal role in the health and wellbeing of the local community with a new national scheme that has been launched earlier this month. The Reading Well Scheme, which enables library users to take books out on prescription, aims to help borrowers manage and overcome a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Blackpool libraries are currently working in unison with the Reading Agency & local health authorities to offer you a safe and cost effective way to manage many health care issues. Recommended by experts, our selection of self help and mood-boosting books can be borrowed, free of charge, from any Blackpool library.

Here’s a few of the titles that we have on offer…

What do I do next?
Come down to your nearest Blackpool library and we’ll get you set up with a free library card. Ask a member of staff to show you to their Reading Well display and browse through the different titles and options. Once you’ve selected your book(s), we’ll issue them onto your new library card and you can take them home with you the very same day.

You can find more information on the Reading Well Scheme, on The Reading Agency’s website.
