As our population ages, the care and support of those with dementia is an important issue that faces our communities. Across Blackpool Library Service, library assistants are becoming part of the national initiative to become Dementia Friends– to find out a little bit more about dementia and develop an understanding of the small things we can do as a community to help those with the condition.
Blackpool Library Service- in partnership with Public Health England – will be hosting a Dementia Book Launch event to promote 25 specially selected book titles. The Reading Agency have worked with dementia healthcare experts to compile a selection of books that will offer advice and support to give both the patient and the carer a greater understanding of the condition and how to live with it. These books will then be offered by healthcare professionals on prescription to their patients.
Whilst this event is tackling a serious condition, it will be a fun and interactive learning tool and is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about dementia.
Events will include….
