Record Breaking Summer Reading Challenge

Saturday 11th July see’s the start of our Record Breaking Summer Reading Challenge where young people take part in the national reading campaign to encourage age 4-11year olds to read over the summer.

Children sign up at their local library and receive a Record Breakers poster to get them started; then they just need to read six library books of their own choice during the summer and they receive prizes along the way. Taking part is completely free.

We have a wide range of fun activities across our Blackpool Libraries over the summer including the Record Breaking Creepy Crawly Road Show and the Record Breaking Family Fun Challenge. Places are free but booking is essential.

Storyteller Dan Worsley who launched this years challenge with help from pupils from Thames Primary School at the Glitterball on Wednesday 8th July tells us more:
