National Poetry Day 2015 Events

Blackpool Museum Project, in partnership with Blackpool Libraries and Grundy Art Gallery, are putting on a series of evening classes in creative writing, fashion and design using the Illuminations as the inspiration.  

8 October 2015 – NATIONAL POETRY DAY
5.30-6.45pm  Central Library £3
Join Lisa Wigham for a wax casting and poetry writing workshop.
Please bring along a small object which could fit inside a match box and holds meaning for you. This will be followed by a tour of Sensory Systems, Grundy’s new light themed exhibition.

8 October 2015 – NATIONAL POETRY DAY
7.00-9pm Meet at Grundy Art Gallery £3
Work with Spoken Word artist Mark Grist to explore the Grundy’s new light-themed exhibition and create poems inspired by the collections. Meet at Grundy at 7pm for a tour of Sensory Systems, Grundys new light themed exhibition. Class at 7.30 at Central Library.

12 October 2015
6-8.00pm Meet at Grundy Art Gallery £3
Join fashion author and tutor at RCA, Emmanuelle Dirix, for an evening of fashion design around the theme of light. Followed by class at Central Library.

15 October 2015
6-8.30pm at Lightworks £10
You can explore neon light with artist Richard Wheater using the Illuminations collections as inspiration.
