May Twitter Book Club

Want to be part of a book club that you can join from your sofa, whilst wearing your jim-jams? Check out #Bookpool…

The #Bookpool pick for May is The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. You can reserve a copy on our library catalogue. Or download the eBook.

We’ve picked this particular book because May’s Twitter Book Club falls during Mental Health Awareness week (16-22 May). Mental Health Week is supported by the Mental Health Foundation. The theme for Mental Health Week this year is relationships, and this book is perfect for exploring how important supportive relationships are to our mental health.

The Silver Linings Playbook tells the story of Pat Peoples. A former History teacher, who has recently returned to his childhood home, following a prolonged stay at the Baltimore Psychiatric Hospital.

A film by David O. Russell was released in 2012, starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro.

We loved this poignant story of families, friendship, and recovery. We can’t wait to hear what you all think.
