The Wordpool Festival is Blackpool’s Arts and Libraries Festival of Words and it kicks off at 6pm, for a 6.30pm start, on Wednesday 30th March at Stanley Park’s Cafe for an evening of Crime! Bestselling author Elly Griffiths will be hosting a panel of renowned crime authors who will lead an intriguing evening talking about their writing and revealing how they ‘dunnit’!
Elly Griffiths has written a successful series featuring Forensic Archaeologist Ruth Galloway, who along with DCI Harry Nelson, solve mysteries involving long buried bones and recent disappearances in Norfolk. Her latest series of Stephens and Mephisto mysteries are set in 1950’s Brighton.
Meet Sharon Bolton author of Awakenings, Blood Harvest and Lost – winner of the RT Magazine’s Best Contemporary Thriller in the US, and awarded the CWA Dagger in the Library for her work. Her first novel Sacrifice was released as a movie in 2016.
Also joining them will be Denise Mina a Scottish crime writer and playwright. She has written the Garnethill trilogy and another three novels featuring the character Patricia “Paddy” Meehan, a Glasgow journalist. Alex Marwood She is the author of The Wicked Girls, 2013 which won the prestigious Edgar Allen Poe Award and was listed by Stephen King as one of his top ten books of that year. Her second novel The Killer Next Door, won the Macavity Award for best mystery novel in 2015. Both novels have been optioned for the screen. Her latest novel is The Darkest Secret.
